I live in New York City’s East Village. Rhode Islanders should imagine this area as a much larger version of Thayer Street after 11 p.m. on a Saturday night, but not as normal. This morning on my way to work I passed a parked car with a prominently displayed Bush-Cheney bumper sticker. Hopefully, the car won’t be destroyed by the area’s peaceful, loving and level-headed folks we know as liberals.

We’ll never win in the East Village but I can’t resist paraphrasing the ad libbing of a movie undoubtedly known to those who inhabit the East Village: “step by step, inch by inch, millimeter by **&^& millimeter.”
