Republicans faring better than Bush

According a recent Rasmussen poll, President Bush’s decline in support in matters of national security has not translated to the Republicans in general. The American people trust Republicans more than Democrats on matters of national security 43% to 38%. This is in contrast to President Bush, who is behind Democrats in congress 41%-40%.

This is good news for the mid-term elections, in that Republicans still hold the edge in this matchup. If national security is a major issue, expect Republicans to do well. Also, with the Dubai Ports deal dead, the NSA story coming back into the forefront, and talks of Censure and Impeachment by the Democrats, look to the numbers of both the Republicans and President Bush to rebound significantly within the next couple of months.
