Still Irrelevant

The United Nations has approved a new human rights council that would still include known rights violators like Cuba, Sudan, Myanmar, Zimbabwe, etc. If you’re going to bother to “reform” a grossly negligent part of the UN, then actually change something that’ll make a real difference! Still irrelevant. Still obstructionist. Still harming the international order by not listening to the USA.

As I read though this post, I am reminded of a couple of reasons as to why the UN is obsolete, useless and detrimental to world peace:

1)A great sketch on SNL about the uselessness of the UN

2) Their ridculous renovation plan. It is so overcost and overbudget…it would rival the Boston boondoggle of the 90s and early 2000s. Trump is offering to renovate the building for nothing. Will they take him up on it? Probably not.

3) Last year, I was the advisor to Model UN at my school. We took the kids to Yale to participate in the Yale Model UN Conference. One of my students, who not only won a Best Delegate Award, but is also conservative, worked hard to get his committee simulation moving, but others had constantly bogged him down in forcing amendments to his resolutions, etc…it was kind of funny to watch beacause it really mirrored the UN’s obfiscation and stalling topics. On the ride back to NJ, the student said to me, “Mr. C, I didn’t like the UN going into this and I hate them even more…nothing gets done.”
