I hate them. I just finished doing my taxes for the year, and it is quite a reminder of one of the reasons that I am a Republican. The amount of taxes as a percentage of income in this country, between Federal, State, Social Security, Medicare, TDI (in Rhode Island), is obscene. That doesn’t even take into account property taxes, taxes on utilities, excise taxes (why the government should tax my car year after year is beyond me), Gasoline taxes, taxes on Cell phones, Corporate Taxes (which get added on to the cost of goods sold), and probably a lot that I’m not even touching on here. If it can be Taxed, the government will find a way to tax it and tax it high. When I look at the amount of taxes that we pay each year, I want to get sick. Mrs. Sal and I work hard for our money. Don’t we deserve to keep some of it?

Of course not… We don’t deserve to keep any of the money we earn. I thank God every day that our benevolent leaders are kind enough to let us bring home a small portion of our paychecks. After all, what right do we have to decide where we spend our money?

If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. If it stops moving, subsidize it.

It was Reagan’s quote. I can’t take the credit.
