Check It Out, “Baby”

This USA Today piece was quite eye-opening on the issue of states and abortion. The article tried to figure out which states would do what with abortion if Roe were overturned. Among its conclusions: 22 states would be ready today to “significantly” restrict access to abortions, many others would have some restrictions, and the typical blue states would keep things as they are. Like illegal immigration, this issue may end up showing the growing disconnect between Washington Beltway logic and the sentiment of the people.

Let’s see. For starters, the source on this “research” was the Alan Guttmacher Institute, funded by none other than Planned Parenthood. The situation is not so bleak as the article makes out.
Second, if by “significantly restrict” they mean “outlaw altogether” I think they’d be on the right track.
Third, they have states like Kansas as middle of the road states.
Fourth, like many liberal causes, this article, (in almost identical form), appeared a month or two ago in the WP, reinforcing the next liberal talking point: what good would it do to overturn Roe anyway? At least they’re moving away from calling it “settled law”.

That’s a really great point. One could take the article as hope that the country is moving away from abortion or fearful that abortion is threatened nearly everywhere. One can sense their fear.
