Gingrich’s concern

Newt Gingrich put out a warning to all Republican lawmakers yesterday, stating that the Republicans are in danger of losing their majority status. I admit, I’ve been skeptical on this point for the most part, but lately I’m beginning to feel the same way as Newt. The Senate and the President’s stance on Illegal immigration, their total inaptitude when it comes to reducing spending, and their inability to make the Bush tax cuts permanent.

I’m worried that the Conservative base may become dispirited and stay home in November, leading to a Democratic takeover of the house and Senate. Obviously, there is a lot that can happen in the next 6 months. The Republicans need to wake up.

I watched the Fox News intervewi that the articles cites. It was very revealing. I agree with Newt. Republican actions over the last few years have reeked of complacency, especailly on the Senate side with cultural issues and on the House side in reagrds to spending. I’m a bit disaffected. I’ll show up and vote, but I, like many, am a conservative who’s getting increasingly frustrated at the Republican’s big spending, socially weak-kneed approach as of late.
