Gifford Pinchot and Theodore Roosevelt are absolutely to blame!
TR’s policies of increased conservation of forested land led directly to the cessation of logging in certain areas. This effect caused the trees to have a stronger foothold on the ground. With the pressure of all these trees still there and building, the earth pent up friction which caused the ground on the West coast to shake immensely under those conditions, leading to the Great San Francisco Earthquake of 1906.
I mean, the science and this conclusion is fool-proof: TR killed thousands of people because of his short-sighted catering to special interests back in the 19-Oughts.
I wonder if similar policies led to an uptick in hurricane activity… hmm…
