New Press Secretary

Fox News’ Tony Snow has been named the new White House Press Secretary. He is the perfect man for this job. He is poised, intelligent, unabashedly conservative, and has a good demeanor for dealing with the press. Tony Snow was a speech writer in the first Bush administration, the principle guest host for Rush Limbaugh in the early 90s, and was the host of Fox News Sunday for 8 years. Since then, he has hosted a syndicated radio show.

Tony Snow could help revitalize the Bush administration by pushing the successes of the administration in Iraq and the economy, provided that the administration lets Tony Snow be Tony Snow.

It will be interesting to watch. I myself am looking forward to his first confrontation with Helen Thomas or David Gregory.

As I had stated before, Tony Snow is an excellent choice to become the next press secretary. I hope that his expertise in the area of media/media relations and politics will assist the administration in explaining its agenda to Americans. When a president shows an inability to “Go Public,” nothing gets done and in these challenging times when the stakes are high, Bush needs to improve his “Going Public” abilities.

No sooner than the announcement to his appointment did the attacks start. And we will soon see it in the MSM, despite the fact he is a journalist (and a darn good one too). Funny how those who attack did not make a peep when Stephanopoulos became the anchor on “This Week.”

The fact that the MSM is attacking is a good sign. Pretty soon we’ll see if the Snow addition will bring some counterpunching. If not, this administration is effectively over.

Looking at Rasmussen today, with Bush at 38%, the Administration needs more than a press secretary. Rasmussen’s latest round of polls show Dems beating the heck out of Republicans on immigration and the generic ballot. Democrats are starting to be viewed as a viable alternative? Wake me up!
