The Massachusett’s Governor is a classic example of a liberal elite who thinks that the policies he wants to impose on society do not apply to him. He has already broken most of his campaign promises, and is raising taxes and asking government agencies to trim their budgets (not something I object to, but there’s more). All the while, he is lavishing luxuries on himself. These luxuries in and of themselves would not be bad, if they came from his own pocket. Patrick, however, seems to think that these luxuries are entitled to him in his role as governor and that the people of Massachusetts should foot the bill. After having by far the most expensive Inaugural Celebration in state history, Patrick has done the following In the last few weeks alone:
- Used the Governor’s Helicoptor (at a $1,000.00 price tag per trip) to go to a museum and a swearing-in ceremony, as well as attend a fallen Marine’s funeral. Gov. Romney used it once in his entire administration. Asked about the frequency of his use of the helicopter, an official said, When schedules are tight and he has official business in various regions of the state, then we’ll evaluate on a case-by-case basis whether he should use the helicopter”. Traditionally, the helicopter has been used for Homeland Security and Disaster Relief purposes. Gov. Jane Swift came under fire in 2000 for using the helicopter to fly her home for Thanksgiving.
- Purchased an expensive car top be used as his personal limo, a $46,000 Cadillac DeVille leased at $1,160/month. The car is a significant upgrade (about a $20,000.00 upgrade) from the Crown Victoria that Gov. Romney used, and is almost $10,000 more expensive than the Chrysler 300C offered to him as a second option by the state police.
- Has spent $27,387.00 of taxpayer money including $10,000 on drapes for his office. $10,000 on curtains??!
- Became the first Governor of MA since Michael Dukakis (another “Man of the People” liberal) to hire a secretary for his wife. The salary? $72,000.00 for someone to help keep her calendar. Oh, by the way, Ms. Patrick is a highly successful attorney who has plenty of her own funds.
Even the left-wing Boston Globe is up in arms, dubbing Patrick Governor Deluxe. After increased heat and pressure, Patrick has agreed to pay for part of his car and for the redecorating of his office. However, this came only after days of media scrutiny and criticism from even his closest supporters.
This again shows the myth that Democrats are not the party of the people. From Nancy Pelosi’s request for a 757, to Patrick, the so-called “Party of the People” has no regard for the hard-earned money that you and I are forced to turn over to the Government week after week. It’s time we woke up and held these politicians accountable.

Normally I give deference to elected officials using perks, but this is clearly overboard. Michael Graham, Patrick’s worst nightmare, must be having a field day with all of this.
The Gov. seems to have earned those two nicknames: Prince Patrick and the Duke of Deval.
Well if he’s following in Dukakis’s footsteps, maybe he’ll go on to be the Democrat’s nominee for President one day.
We here in NJ (as I like to call it, the Louisiana of the North…due to our corrupt politicians who, for example, have committed or participated in a littany of crimes and/or questionable acts: shady billboard deals , corrupt senators , corrupt senatorial candidates , ballot fixing/switching , the list can go on and on…but I digress) have had our own ‘problems’ similar to the current governor of MA. Our previous elected governor also had a ‘chopper problem’ (among many) that made news across our state. Paralleling the automobile issue, McGreevey also had something similar, however, it was totaling Woodbridge Township Lincoln Town Cars (2) and speeding.
I love it how Liberals think they can get away with everything and with their willing accomplices in the media, it makes it that much easier.
