Democrats who claim to know Jesus

Presidential Candidate John Edwards recently stated that the U.S. is a selfish country, and that Jesus would be appalled at our selfishness.  Edwards said:

I think that Jesus would be disappointed in our ignoring the plight of those around us who are suffering and our focus on our own selfish short-term needs.  I think he would be appalled, actually.

Well, Mr. Edwards, assuming your premise is true (which it is not, see below) would Jesus be supportive or appalled at the slaughter of millions of innocent babies every year through abortion?  Would he be pleased or appalled at the ruining of the institution of marriage?  Would he be pleased or appalled at the so-called “Welfare state” which instead of helping people and bringing them up, keeps people down with a government handout?  Why is it that when a Conservative brings religion into politics (remember George W. Bush citing Jesus as the most influential philosopher on his life) the media goes into complete attack mode, but when a liberal brings religion into politics, there is barely a whisper.

Finally, on the false premise that America is a selfish country.  America is the most generous nation in the world.  True, our foreign aid as a percentage of GDP is on the low-end, but that’s because we as American’s believe for the most part that big government is bad and that government is not the solution.  Americans give a tremendous amount of money through private donations to charitable organizations, more-so than any other nation.  When you couple that with the government aid, we are indeed the most generous.

A word of advice to John Edwards:  insulting the American people will not get you closer to the Presidency.

Listen, John Edwards, I knew Jesus Christ– and you, sir, are no Jesus Christ!

What does this guy think he’s doing? His crazy “two-Americas” nonsense may have played to the guilty liberal folks infected with “affluenza” as well as those too poor to realize that they can pick themselves up with hard work and dedication, but this is out of line. Spewing his leftist guilt trip by invoking the “What Would Jesus Think” junk looks more like a petty attempt to court the religous vote– a vote he has no chance of getting anyway.

On the note of Edwards not getting the religious vote, it is worth noting again that Edwards continues to pay bloggers who spew the most virulent and hate-filled anti-Catholic slurs in their blogs. His recent comments on Israel also put him in bad standing with the Jewish community. Still, he will likely do well in Iowa.

What is it with the Dems infatuation with relatively inexperienced Senators anyway? An 04 VP candidate with about 2 years experience and this go-around’s top 2 thus far include a Senator not half through his first term and Hilary, who is barely into her 2nd. I guess nothing readies one to lead a nation like a few years low on the totem pole in the minority party in the Senate. Vast value differences aside, the GOP would never run such similarly unqualified people nor seriously consider them in a primary.

I tell you one thing about Breck Girl that Jesus won’t think highly of…that’s Edwards’s work as a ‘slip and fall lawyer,’ contributing to the health care financial crisis and lining his pockets with the misfortune of those who have suffered loss.

Jesus would also not approve of hypocrisy, something Breck Girl has practiced, especially with his Two Americas garbage and his phoniess of trying to pass himself off as a working class American. Also, his positions on the environment don’t necessarily mesh with the plowing out and paving over of land on which to build his new NC home .

Funny how the media ignores his bloggers’ anti-Catholic slurs, but they will gladly drag Annie C through the mud and try to destroy her regarding her recent Breck Girl comments.
