While my views on immigration are not in sync with most on this page, I have the same sincerity concerns about McCain on other issues. In particular, his infamous SF speech on Roe and support of embryonic stem cell and criticism of Christian leaders as "agents of intolerance" call into question his commitment to unborn life and commitment to protecting religious freedom.
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('1499','Noonan','While my views on immigration are not in sync with most on this page, I have the same sincerity concerns about McCain on other issues.
In the most recent issue of National Review, Ramesh Ponnuru wrote an article stating that McCain deserves a second look. While on target most of the time, Ponnuru is dead wrong on this one. No matter how hard he tries to re-make himself a conservative, McCain will be nothing more than a self-loathing, attention-needy Republican. And the sad thing about him is that he eats his own to get the adoration of those in the media and in Washington. As you had said before on this blog, Ryan, many of Bush's problems have stemmed from McCain's bitterness and his actions of stabbing Republicans in the heart (I don't say the back because he parades himself in front of the media when he does it). His postions on taxes, illegal immigration, recent Iraq comments, as well as the whole dance of seduction he and Kerry did back in 2004 are unforgivable. If the Republicans nominate him in 2008 (I still belive they won't), they do so at their own peril.

Wrong on this one, Ramesh. McCain should be done.
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('1498','Chris','In the most recent issue of National Review, Ramesh Ponnuru wrote an article stating that McCain deserves a second look.
