Iran Budges

Mahmoud has decided that the 15 hostages are to be released from Iranian custody and not face trial. After two weeks the hostages will be eventually going home. Unfortunately the larger message here is that Iran has tested the resolve of Europe and Britain and concluded that they lack the gumption to stand up to them. Iran has laughed at them for 14 days. Yet, Blair gets to avoid being the new Jimmy Carter, and the US battle fleets are still in the Gulf waiting for Iran to get stupid again with the wrong people. I think the forces of good in the world lost out on this one because when Iran decides to get aggressive again, the precedent has been set for a long, delayed, arduous process of face-saving nonsense with these jerks.
