Good Riddance Chuck Hagel

This coming Monday, Chuck Hagel is finally going to hold a press conference worth listening to when he announces his decision not to run for re-election in 2008. The Nebraska Senator, whose life ambition was to out-McCain John McCain without bothering to be as pleasant, will not be missed. As Chris Wallace once pointed out, the man’s worldview on national security was closer to John Kerry’s than to the mainstream of the Republican Party.

The departure of the narcissistic RINO probably won’t mean much in terms of the 2008 election either because Nebraska is a deep red state. The only Democrat who could make it interesting would be Bob Kerrey. However, Kerrey isn’t as insane as most of his Democrat colleagues and he would probably lose to the popular former GOP Governor Mike Johanns anyway.

In the meantime, let’s just enjoy the good news. Good riddance Senator!

I love seeing RINOs getting out of the way! Chuck Hegel was borderline disgraceful when it came to the war. Then again, this press conference could be held so that he can say he’s not going to step out of the race, like the one where he said he was NOT going to run for President. Media hound almost as bad as McCain.
