General Petraeus and an Historical What If

The conservative blogosphere has created several illustrations of what today’s dishonest and vile anti-war activists would have sounded like in past conflicts.  The comparisons are often too harsh for the critics, but are nevertheless spot on.  The most recent hypothetical is an excellent example.

Redstate has taken the left’s disgraceful treatment of General Petraeus and applied it to World War II in a hypothetical 1940s ad against General Eisenhower.   The Eisenhower attack ad appears as ludicrous as the recent Petraeus attack ad, until one considers that the latter actually ran in the New York Slimes.
