WFB took Kirk's conservatism and added in libertarian economics. With the founding of National Review, WFB was determined to advance the conservative cause. He was instrumental in advancing the candidicies of both Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan, and had a profound impact on the man who brought conservative philosophy to the masses, Rush Limbaugh. Buckley advanced a movement that went through peaks and valleys, always to emerge stronger. Buckley was a great man and every Conservative today from Rush to Sean to Mary Katharine should be grateful to him as it was Mr. Buckley who paved their way to relevance. He was the voice of the Conservative Movement through the dark years of the Repulican Party in the 1960s.
