A combination of the two?

He was obviously trying to be tough on Palin, which is understandable TO A POINT. But his desire to paint Palin into a corner backfired on him atleast once.

Gibson asked the following genius question:

GIBSON: I’m talking about somebody who’s a head of state, who can negotiate for that country. Ever met one?

PALIN: I have not and I think if you go back in history and if you ask that question of many vice presidents, they may have the same answer that I just gave you.

Now Charlie, please tell us why would a GOVERNOR of any STATE ever need to MEET with a HEAD OF STATE?

I loved the Bush Doctrine moment when she asked Gibson what about the Bush Doctrine he was referring to -- it visibly threw him off!Also, Rush made a point today that Gibson's true audience was Tom Brokaw, Brian Williams, Dan Rather, etc. Once Gibson set the tone, the others now have a template from which to interrogate her. We'll see more of these kinds of interviews unfortunately.Truth be told, with a little google search one finds that Gibson treatment of Palin was very different than the way he treated Obama two months before Iowa -- essentially: "Barack, why are you so awesome?" The double standard is striking and obvious.
