Fins End Pats Streak

I guess when a football streak comes to an end, you might as well make it memorable!  I won’t be forgetting this one soon.

The last time the New England Patriots lost a regular season game was December 10, 2006, against the Miami Dolphins.  So, the Dolphins showed up to not just beat the Pats at home today, but wallop them 38-13.  It was a demoralizing kind of beat-down that no team wants going into a Bye-week.

And who the heck is Ronnie Brown?  Whoever he is, he owns the Pats now, having run for 4 touchdowns and thrown for a fifth.

Thus ends an NFL record 21 consecutive regular season game win streak (the old record was 18 wins, held by the Pats a few years ago).  Once Brady went down, I knew the Pats were in for a meager 9-7 season, but this first of many potential losses was devastating.

Just to rub it in, as I am writing this the Buffalo Bills who had been losing most of their game, have won with a last second field goal making them 3-0 on the season and in sole lead of the AFC East, regardless of whether the Jets win tomorrow night.  It’s the first time the Bills have gone 3-0 since 1992.

Either way the Pats have two weeks to sit and stew about what happened.  Hopefully this beat-down will be an anomaly — the Pats have too much talent to make this a pattern.
