On paper it doesn't sound too bad, but honestly, I don't think it's the best strategy. Washington will gridlock on this and McCain is taking quite a chance. While we all know the truth that Obama has been ducking a teleprompter-less meeting with McCain, the drive-bys will portray McCain as weak. True, the debate can be rescheduled, but still, this is something that worries me greatly, especially with the PrObama drive-by media out there. Now if he really wants to think out of the box, have Sarah Palin stand in for him at the debate. Not only will it put #2 to shame, it will put every drive-by Obama marionette to shame when she outclasses the Uh king at the debate.
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('4423','Chris','Quite a busy news day in Washington and its environs. Sarah Palin governs a state with a surplus dipshit. As for McCain's move, it's risky. On the one hand, he looks like a leader. On the other hand, if McCain goes to Washington and Congress fails to pass anything, then Obama can accuse McCain of being incapable of bringing people together while also depriving the people of a campaign. This really could go either way.
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('4412','Mike','Wow. It could possibly be brilliant. Yet, it still could be disasterous.Obama still wants to debate Friday, which is hilarious since he's been ducking a direct debate with McCain since June. Obama believes that a President should be able to do two things at once.Fine then.Obama can show up alone Friday and if the press asks where his opponent is, Obama can say: "He's in Washington trying to solve the financial crisis. I'd rather be here on TV talking about what I want to talk about all while getting softball questions from moderators like you. So, you see I can do two things at once. That's why I should be President."That's what I wish people would take away from all this -- Obama not knowing how to react, so he attacks and condescends. Prhaps he thinks McCain is turning into a "bitter clinger." Yet, I have this fear that Independents may look at all this as a political stunt. Plus Obama just got TONS of potential ammo about how McCain's trying to duck HIM of all things. It's all too early to tell, though.
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('4408','Ryan','My first impression was to look for someone to support in 2012 to thwart an Obama reelection. \r\n\r\nUpon further thought, I agree with Sal here.
