But Mr. Barone, I Don’t Want to Live in a Thugocracy

What would it be like if we became an Obama Nation?  The mere thought is enough to make some folks pretty apprehensive and inspired to help McCain-Palin.

So, here comes this piece:

Brilliant election number-cruncher Michael Barone has a picture of a potential Obama Nation – “thugocracy“.  With Barone’s encyclopedic knowledge of micro-politics in all 435 districts, his editorial is not a good sign to us freedom-loving, free-market types.  Barone makes the point that Liberals only love to protect speech as long as it’s their speech being protected.  Whether the Libs are “getting in [our] faces” or promoting the Stalinist “fairness doctrine,” an Obama Nation would be quite unkind to the opposition… which would be us!

We all know this, but Barone’s attention worries me some.  He usually knows what he’s talking about and his discussion of this only underscores the struggle we freedom-loving, free-market types will have to endure over the next three weeks.  We are obviously trailing, yet within striking distance nonetheless.  Is there enough time?  Is our messenger too swamped and too far behind?  Who knows, but like Mr. Barone, I don’t want to live in a thugocracy.

We are heading in the economic direction of Sweden with a soviet style culture of corruption.
