Draft Women? An Obama Nation Alert!

As the campaign season enters its final three weeks, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has a story indicating that “change we can believe in” also includes sending 18-25 year old women a selective service card coercing them to sign up!

I am all for an all-volunteer military.  Notice it’s the Libs who can’t get enough of bringing up drafts and we all know why — it’s a sneaky way of creating an anti-military attitude amongst the young and their parents.  Libs see the US military as the problem with the world, not the solution to many of the world’s ills.

I’m also for women volunteering if they choose to serve in the military.  The nature of that service should be tied to the military’s point of view since they are the ones who would know best anyway.  As we learned through the wuss-like base-closing policies of the 1990s, the military should not be a place for social engineering.  Rather, it’s a place where our soldiers learn to fight and kill our enemies to preserve our freedom and our interests.

Like John McCain I support the current voluntary approach to women in the military.  And I think those of you who also support that point of view should vote for McCain-Palin on November 4th!

In truth, this story and Obama’s point of view is likely to be buried until November 5th.  Many Obama voters would be shocked to learn the many things they didn’t know about their Savior’s positions before Election Day.  I think this might be one of them.
