The 2008 Al Smith Dinner

Keeping with American Presidential campaign tradition, John McCain and Barack Obama addressed the Al Smith Dinner earlier tonight. Officially a an annual benefit in New York City for Catholic Charities, the Dinner is also an event where the Presidential candidates can play comedian.

The following are clips are of McCain and Obama delivering their remarks. Like last night, Fox News pretended the candidates were equally effective. Nonsense. As the following clips show, McCain once again delivered the superior performance. My favorite line of the night is when he referred to She Who Must Not Be Named. Enjoy.

McCain’s speech was great and frankly, a lot nicer than he had to be/should have been.

Watching Barack Obama do comedy is like seeing a liberal trying to have a good time at the Freedom Concert. The man-child seemed more uncomfortable than when he’s being challenged.

Chris, you were doing alright for a moment. Mccain was good, but just because you support Mccain, you don’t have to do everything like him. Your comment would be so much better if you had left the negativity out. Have you learned nothing from the debate the other night? Barak was as funny as Mccain. Try to lighten up, you might feel better about yourself.

Lee,

I think my dig at Obama pales in comparison to the left’s personal shots at McCain, Palin and their supporters. Just today, Obama and Biden started taking shots at Joe the Plumber. I think making fun of the Republican presidential canidate’s age, disability due to torture, and questioning of his honor and truthfulness, as well as calling the Republican VP candidate dumb, a MILF, white trash, a c@#%, and questioning her abilities of being a good mother, while at the same time, mocking her daughter, is disgraceful and is 10 times worse than my little jab at Obama. If Obama and the Democrats would have run a successful campaign, I think you’d have seen a lot less tension from me and many of the GOP.

Lee, I hope you’ll join me in praying for our country if Obama is lucky enough to get in.
