Patriots’ Pyrrhic Victory

Last night’s 41-7 victory over the Denver Broncos was a relief to many New England Patriots fans who wanted to see if Matt Cassel had some real potential after five games.  Check.  The Pats fan was also interested in seeing how the Pats defense would handle the Broncos’ pass offense.  Check.

But the price of these small successes keep rising in New England:

First Tom Brady is knocked out for the season with an ACL injury in Week 1.  Then, featured running back Laurence Maroney is out for the season with his own injuries.  Last night, superstar Safety Rodney Harrison sustained a quad injury last night, ending his season and possibly his career.  Add RB Sammy Morris’ injury to the mix, and one can call easily last night a “Pyrrhic Victory“.

We can’t have too many more of those.

But hey, the Pats are 4-2, which isn’t too bad, but I have no illusions about the tough slog we’re going to face this season, especially with #4 in New York and a scary Bills team sensing the weakness and injury up in New England.

Just a bit of a dig,

Need to send these guys down here to toughen up. a season of playing Rugby, no padding, no helmet, no ‘box’, just 29 other players determined to kick the sh.. out of you if you hit the ground.

I should know, played Rugby for the National Secondary School team and sat my University Entrance Exams from Hospital in a cast and neck frame… Breed ‘em tough down here!

Saw Jessica Simpson on one of the US Chat shows (Letterman??… they all seem the same) late night telly last night talking about her football boyfriend… She is one DUMB Blonde…

She might be dumb, but when she cleans up she’s great to look at!

The girl also knows how to use her personality (and lack of intelligence) to make money.

True… And at least she’s not a bag of bones like many of them these days.

But then I’d rather a Nichole Kidman or Cate Blanchett, sexy AND a modicum of intelligence, or on the more mature front Meryl Streep, ok not an absolute stunner, but she is one smart and sexy lady. She was great in Mama Mia… Ok the wife dragged me along…

I hate to admit it but we’re all friends here. I saw Mama Mia too. In my defense, my employer at the time forced everyone to go.
