Bill Clinton isn’t too happy with the Obama Campaign — they’re up right now, which isn’t good for Der Schlickmeister. But, as a good little Democrat, BJ has to play the game and suck it up and smile.
So, out on the campaign trail yesterday Clinton described a conversation he had with Obama during the economic meltdown:
“I haven’t cleared this with him and he may even be mad at me for saying this so close to the election, but I know what else he said to his economic advisers (during the crisis). He said, ‘Tell me what the right thing to do is. What’s the right thing for America? Don’t tell me what’s popular. You tell me what’s right — I’ll figure out how to sell it.’”
BJC basically went on to compliment the Empty Suit for his ability to seek advice, but this doesn’t come off as positive leadership qualities during a time of crisis. I guess if Obama gets a 3am phone call about a crisis he’ll know who to call, but not so much how to act. BJ might like that arrangement to keep himself the Alpha Dem in an Obama Nation.
