Change That Keeps Changing

Obama’s new, unprecedented (and possibly illegal) transition website,, has been online for five days now, but its contents keep changing.  First, there was the much-touted flap regarding mandatory community service that was modified two days later to voluntary community service.

Here is the original:

It was soon revised from requiring fifty hours of service to setting fifty hours of service as a goal.

Besides the “America Serves” change, a much more drastic change occurred over the weekend.  When the site went up, it had various sections outlining in detail Obama’s liberal agenda for America, in areas such as Education, the Economy, and Defense.  However, on Sunday, that entire section was removed and placed with a single paragraph that had no specifics and only generalities.

Original Obama Agenda Page

Revised Generic Agenda Page

The original agenda included radical, liberal ideas that the Obama campaign must have decided it didn’t want Americans to scrutinize just yet.  Thanks to Google’s cache feature, we were able to recover some of the content of the pages and reproduce them into this document (PDF).  Some of the radical agenda items Obama is proposing:

  • Early-childhood indoctrination with the Obama “Zero-to-five plan”, aimed at beginning education with infants.
  • Universal pre-school education.
  • Provide “affordable, high-quality child care”
  • Double funding for after-school programs
  • Support for “transitional bi-lingual education” (i.e. allowing kids not to learn English)
  • A $4000 college tuition credit, ensuring that “the first $4000 of a college education is completely free for most Americans” provided, of course, that the student performs 100 hours of community service.

The Economy

  • Enact a Windfall Profits tax on Oil Companies to give a $1000 tax credit, which will have the effect of drastically driving up gas and oil prices.
  • $50 in payouts to states to “save jobs”.
  • Cut income taxes for “working families”.  Note the site is extremely vague on the specifics for this one. The only specific given is that this tax cut will “completely eliminate income taxes for 10 million Americans.”
  • Use trade agreements to “spread good labor and environmental standards around the world.”
  • Force Canada and Mexico to amend NAFTA.
  • “End Tax Breaks for Companies that send jobs overseas”.  There are no tax breaks for companies that send jobs overseas.  They just don’t pay payroll taxes anymore on those employees.  How is he going to accomplish this?
  • Invest in a “clean energy economy and create 5 million green jobs”.
  • Create a “National Infrastructure Reinvestment Bank” to finance transportation and infrastructure projects (i.e. a whole new Works Progress Administration).  \
  • Pass the “Employee Free Choice Act” which would remove the secret ballot from workforces voting on whether or not to unionize.
  • Wants to ban the replacement of striking workers, making it illegal for companies to keep operating during a labor strike.
  • Raise the minimum wage (didn’t we just do this last year?)
  • Expand Family Medical Leave Act to force small businesses to cover FMLA.

Civil Rights

  • Expand Hate Crimes laws to cover homosexuals.
  • Enact “Equal Pay for Equal Work” laws, which are not needed and only cause problems (more in a future post).
  • Ban racial profiling (goodbye national security)
  • Provide job training and counselling services to ex-cons.

Urban Issues

  • Increase supply of low-income housing
  • Expand earned income tax credit (which is simply welfare redistribution)
  • Review weapons programs (i.e cut missile defense)
  • Increase gun control to make owning a gun impractical.

Yet now, all of this data is gone.  Why did team Obama remove this from their website?  The change keeps changing.  Who knows what we will end up getting, but if the former agenda is any indication, it will be radical, it will cost billions of dollars, and will redistribute wealth from corporations and those who have succeeded to people who don’t pay income taxes.  This is not anything new.  These are the same tired policies that caused the Soviet Union to fail, and that has depressed the economies of Europe since World War II.  They will serve only to put America into a much more severe economic situation than we are currently in, and make the next four years some of the most difficult in our history.  We as conservatives need to fight this agenda, agreeing with Obama where it is appropriate, but standing firm at every single attempt at creeping Socialism.

This is scarey!

When Malcom Turnbull and Julie Bishop (CLASS LADY!) throw Comrade Crud (Kevin Rudd) out in 3 year’s we’ll be the bastions of the free world!

It’s OK we’ll let refugee’s from the US of A in under our UN obligations.

Just to get you thinking… My office (when I’m in residence)is 200 Metres from one of the best beaches in OZ, swimming 7 months of the year in comfort, great motorcycle riding (one of my passions) all year round. Great fishing, wineries……. God’s Own Country!

Get in the queue early, there’s only so many slots!

When George Bush was elected by a similar margin in 2004 (both were decisive victories to be sure, but neither can be called a landslide. You have to go back to Reagan for that), the left did not give him any chance to succeed. I hope the new President does succeed, for our country’s sake. But what I do know is that I will not sit by and watch Obama inact policies that are doomed to failure without speaking out. It is not divissive and hateful to debate policies and argue points of view. I will not capitulate to Obama’s worldview just because he won an election. I’ll certainly give him credit where credit is due, but I remain skeptical as one of the 48% who did not consider him to be a good choice.
