When I Was Your Age

Tonight’s Providence Journal blog made me realize that I was born about 25 years too soon.  Apparently, certain school districts (including the one I attended as youngster)  now view “extreme cold” and two to four inches of snow, IN NEW ENGLAND, IN JANUARY, as a reason to cancel school THE NIGHT BEFORE.

File this one under “*ussification of society.”   At least Foster-Gloucester hasn’t wimped out yet.

Why can’t we get that in NJ!!! (j/k) NJ actually has a law that the ambient temperature of the building cannot be above 90 degrees so on heat wave days (like last June) school has to be called out early. Growing up my HS was a heatbox in warm weather…wish we had something like that back then.

Those in Foster-Gloucester are real hard core and I don’t expect them to wimp out… though they were always on the list of schools that cancelled back in the day.
