Caroline Kennedy withdrew her name from consideration for Hillary Clinton’s vacant Senate seat earlier today. She cited “personal reasons,” for her decision, which tells us absolutely nothing about her real reasons. People are speculating though.
Right Soup thinks its because Teddy’s Health. The Post and Ed Morrissey are saying that Kennedy knew Governor Patterson would not nominate her. Those thoughts are as good as any I’ve heard, nut since no one knows for sure, I’ll speculate too. I think she balked when she realized the media might treat her the same way they treated Sarah Palin, or not.
Whatever the reason, New York will have to settle for a different liberal Senator for the next two years, albeit one more qualified than a toothbrush.

The one benefit of having Caroline in the seat is it may have made her ripe for defeat in 2010. Now, who knows.
