And the New RNC Chair is: Michael Steele

Republicans elected their new RNC chair today, electing Maryland former Lt. Governor Michael Steele in the sixth ballot, defeating South Carolina RNC Chair Katon Dawson by a vote of  91 to 77.   Michael Steele brings fresh, outsider blood into the RNC.  Not being an RNC chair gives him a fresh perspective at leading our party out of the wilderness in 2010 and 2012.  His outspokenness, clarity of message, and fresh ideas will help revitalize our party and move it in a more Conservative direction.

Congratulations to Michael Steele, and we at AOR look forward to seeing what you can do to help rebuild the GOP.

This is EXCELLENT! And the left despises him almost as much as Ann Coulter or Sarah Palin, which is good for us. He ran a strong campaign with a positive message back in 2006 and I think he will do wonderful things for the party in (a) getting Conservatives to the party; (b) facilitating Republican gains; (c) lobbying for and supporting Sarah Palin to run for president in 2012 and send Barack back to IL!

Such good news. Though I cannot believe that 77 members voted for the inevitable headlines.
