Providence Tax Day Tea Party Preview

I had the opportunity today to speak to William Faulkner, President of the Ocean State Policy Research Institute and one of the organizers of the Rhode Island Tea Party, part of the National Tax Day Tea Party movement.  We spoke briefly on the tea party, what it is about, and what attendees to the Rhode Island Tea Party can expect.  The RI Tea Party really only got going about three weeks ago when Colleen Conley, a wife, mother and businesswoman decided that she had enough.  She had heard of the Tax Day Tea Party movement, and felt that one had to be held in RI.  She signed up with the national movement to get things going, and contacted the Ocean State Policy Research Institute to help organize the logistics of the event.

The event will feature 20 speakers on the RI state house lawn, mostly of ordinary citizens expressing their frustration with big government.  According to Faulkner, the Tea Parties are in response to the expansion of the statist government that we are witnessing, as more and more control of our daily lives is handed over to the government.  The Tea Parties are for those who feel “We’ve Had Enough” and want their voices heard.  The RI Tea Party is today at 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM EDT on the State House Lawn.  The organizers will also be collecting non-perishable food items local food pantries.  For those in other areas, you can find your local Tea Party location at the Tax Day Tea Party Web Site.  My fellow contributor Ryan is attending a Tea Party in New Jersey as we speak, so let’s all get out there to have our voices heard!

What a well run protest! It wasn’t about democrats or republicans, but about taking our country back from an out of control government. We need to keep the momentum going and not stand by and let our country fail. We need to fix this awesome Republic, the welfare ranks and illegal aliens sure won’t. Pass the word around and build this organization to ranks no one has seen before!

God bless you all… and God bless America!
