Memorial Day 2009

On this Memorial Day, we at AOR wish to express our gratitude and appreciation for all of those who paid the ultimate price to preserve our freedoms and way of life.  It is always important to think about why we engage in our holidays, especially this one, started in the 1868 as “Decoration Day” to commemorate those who died in the Civil War.  The traditional date was May 30, but in 1971 President Nixon changed it to the last Monday in May.

So, enjoy the date marking the beginning of the summer season, with all the pool openings, barbecues, beach bums and booze, but just take a moment to toast the fallen.
