Palin vs. Letterman

Having an a**-crack-of-dawn teacher schedule I am usually in bed obnoxiously early and rarely catch the 10 o’clock news let alone the late night talk shows.  So the attacks by David Letterman on Willow Palin went completely under my radar and was muffled at the water cooler this week due to the Yankees-Red Sox/Phillies-Mets series’ taking place.  So, I went to get a quick synopsis about what happened.  Greta Van Susteren had the most succinct analysis:

Dave was trying to be funny.  He has a liberal audience and loves scoring cheap shots at the expense of Sarah Palin.  But, he should have done his research.  He may have thought he was referring to 18-year-old Bristol in the joke (rape jokes just don’t do it for me), but the truth is that he wasn’t — Willow joined her mom in NYC, not Bristol.  Whether he wants to admit it or not, he unknowingly told a joke about the statutory rape of the 14-year-old daughter of Alaska’s Governor and the former Vice Presidential candidate by A-Rod and the Yankees’ dugout.

Ratings ploy

If so, it’s disgusting and in my opinion Letterman deserves every negative he gets in this case.  That’s why you don’t joke about the children of politicians, be it Bristol, Willow, Piper, or Jenna, Barbara or Chelsea.  Karma can occasionally catch up with you.

Letterman is an entertainment horror star. What bothers conservatives most is not only was the attempt at a joke horrible, but the audience actually laughed. We are indeed in a culture war that needs to be fought one-on-one at the street level. Conservatives need to call out the leftist lunatics who would laugh at such things.

Conservatives also need to compete on the same level. With so many folks getting their political information from Letterman and the Tonight Show, conservatives need to joke about leftists as well. ( here might be a start: )

Democrats and leftists can handle any criticism because they can’t reason. The one thing they cannot handle is being laughed at.
