A Dark Omen in India

The daylight became dim. 

An auspicious darkness crept across the Asian subcontinent as feelings of dread seized millions — hide your children, bathe yourself in holy water, do not prepare foods, say your prayers!

No, it probably wasn’t the continued presence of Hillary Clinton threatening a global warming disaster in India, though we know about the feelings of dread she can conjure.  Rather, it was a solar eclipse (the longest to be seen in the next 100 years in that part of the world), which is viewed by many Hindus as a negative omen.

Though the coincidence of Clinton’s visit and departure coinciding with a cultural ill-omen like a solar eclipse is unusual, if not uncanny…
