Benedict Arlen Squirms At Health Care Town Hall

Benedict Arlen Specter has now dropped all pretenses that he ever was a Republican, and even a moderate, at a town hall event in Philadelphia yesterday on the Democrats’ proposed health care plan.  Specter hosted the event with Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius, and they were met by quite a few angry citizens who want no part of this health care plan (thank you, Tea Party Movement, for organizing these protests).  Panzramic has several videos from the event, with a couple clips below.  The first clip puts on display the unabashed liberalism that Specter has embraced in the last year.  In the video, he even goes beyond the Democrat proposals and endorses the idea of a single-payer system.

In this second video, Specter struggles to respond to a woman who asks how the government can manage our health care when they can’t even manage Cash for Clunkers.

The rest of the videos are equally as enjoyable, as it is fun to watch Benedict Arlen squirm at his constituents.  I think we’ll be seeing a lot more of these types of town hall meetings, as the Democrats go home to angry constituents who do not want any part of this disastrous health care plan (such as one in Austin, TX, as reported on by Michelle Malkin).  It gives an opening to challengers such as Pat Toomey in 2010, who will be able to point to Benedict Arlen’s complete transformation to the dark side, and show his political opportunism for all it is worth.  As for the rest of the Democrats, many of the so-called “blue dogs” ran on conservative ideas, sometimes outdoing Republicans in their Conservative rhetoric.  By becoming complicit in this government-run fiasco, they run the risk of alienating those who voted for them and turning 2010 into a GOP landslide.  In the meantime, we have the month of August to look forward to, and more Democrat town hall meetings in which we can relish in watching Democrats squirm.

If Specter wins reelection next year, we might as well take Pennsylvania’s star off the flag, adding it to the penalty box California and Michigan are already in!
