Welcome to the NFL, Mark Sanchez!

The NFL is great for the sports drama and excitement it dishes out every week.  In keeping with that, New York Jets rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez put in a very rookie-like performance yesterday in his 24-10 loss to the high-flying New Orleans Saints

The New York media has been generally forgiving, though.  With all the buzz after their Week 2 against the New England Patriots, you’d think the Jets would be the first team to go 16-0 and win the Super Bowl!  A little more humility in the press today and from the super-cocky Head Coach Rex Ryan.

That’s not to say that Sanchez didn’t have bright moments, it’s just that his performance brought back memories of Kellen Klemens and Chad Pennington before the Jets let him go.  I certainly hope that Sanchez gets shell-shock and falls flat for the rest of the season, but that’s just the Pats fan in me!  Tom Brady started out soaring too, but had a terrible day against Denver in his first season that made Sanchez’s performance yesterday look All-Pro.  It’s too early to worry or get excited, but as a Pats fan it was nice to pull even in the division yesterday.
