What Liberals Really Think of the Military

It’s always been said that liberals have disdain for the military, and last night, Chris Matthews illustrated it beautifully.  In reviewing Obama’s speech, in which he spoke of President Obama going into “enemy territory” in giving his speech at West Point, and referred to the cadets as rabble that used to be roused by the Bush administration.  The utter disdain showed to those who put their lives on the line for our freedom by Matthews and the left in general is purely despicable.

Matthews didn’t mean it that way. He was referring to the fact that American soldiers generally don’t hold liberal Democrats in high regard politically. Of course, Matthews’ admission begs the question of why troops feel the way they do and in that sense the quote is telling. But Matthews didn’t mean that soldiers were literally the enemy.

The man is on television at least an hour a day and everyone misspeaks once in a while. Although liberals never extend the benefit of the doubt to conservatives who misspeak, that doesn’t mean we should act as they do under similar circumstances. Matthews is a douchebag, but he doesn’t see soldiers as the enemy.

If it was ‘misspeak’ it showed a complete lack of ‘brain before mouth’. If not a despicable slur on the people who just dig in and do regardless of who is president and whether they agree with the strategy passed down from the top.

A little more respect!!!!

I think you nailed it Oz. Chris Matthews has always been a speak first, think later (if at all) kind of guy.
