Anglican Priest Goes All George Costanza on Seventh Commandment

Those frustrated with the rise of Cafeteria Catholicism can often be heard saying that the our society has transformed the Ten Commandments into the Ten “Suggestions.”  Father Tim Jones, Pastor of the Anglican St. Lawrence Church in York, UK has taken this transformation a step further.  During his recent Christmas sermon, Fr. Jones encouraged his congregation to violate one of those Commandments that even the most ardent secularist would follow.  According to Fr. Jones:

My advice, as a Christian priest, is to shoplift.  I do not offer such advice because I think that stealing is a good thing, or  because I think it is harmless, for it is neither.  I would ask that they do not steal from small family businesses, but from large national businesses, knowing that the costs are ultimately passed on to the rest of us in the form of higher prices.

The Archbishop of Canterbury is on record in support of Sharia Law and now an Anglican Priest is on record with a George Costanza approach to the Ten Commandments.  The Anglican Church sure has been thinking outside the box lately.
