Terror Plot Foiled Over Detroit

The “overseas contingency operations” missed a potential “man-caused disaster” yesterday when a 23-year-old Muslim male named Umar Farouk Abdul Mutallab tried to ignite some explosives on a flight headed for Detroit (wow, something about that profile rings a bell… hmm… I guess it’ll come to me later… Hey Grandma, take off those shoes!).

He failed after a few passengers noticed him lighting a match and prevented the explosion.  Mutallab al ka-boom-i was burned in the attempt and is now in custody.  However, Mutallab was on the Terror Watch List for two years and should never have even made it on the plane

So, in Amsterdam a known terrorist contact made it onto a plane bound for America and nearly blew it up?  Can someone say “dry run?”  Someone needs to be fired somewhere and our intelligence agencies need to communicate better.  If this guy had any brains he’d have pulled this attack off.  What’s the point in having a watch list if no one’s going to watch?  That’s very scary.

Agreed! A very good first line of defense would be keep the known terrorists off of the planes. It shouldn’t be that difficult! Dee
