Dems in 2010: New Year, Old Target

I laughed out loud when I saw this headline from Fox: “Desperate for Edge in Election Year, Dems Turn to Old Strategy.”  What strategy, you ask?  Let’s go through the old Democrat Playbook: Class warfare?  That’s a given.  Republicans are racist, homophobic neanderthals?  Not yet, but wait for it by summer.  Blame Bush?  Bingo!

The 2010 Democrat strategy will boil down to this:  remind voters on how bad Bush was (Weak.  Really, really weak.  This election might be easier than I thought!).

Their focus will be on the end of Bush’s Administration, pointing to the TARP bailouts which they will say favored Wall Street.  Hmm… odd strategy since it was a DEMOCRAT Congress which approved the TARP funds with all the cloak-and-dagger strings attached they will complain about.  In fact, Senator Barack Hussein Obama himself (before the mm mm m‘s) voted FOR the TARP bailout!  Actually, the last two years of the Bush Administration were dominated by a Democrat Congress.

So, in a strange way, the Dems have decided to run against themselves this year, pointing their fingers at Ol’ Bogey Man Bush.  Worked wonders for Jon Corzine in New Jersey.  In fact, if the Dems want to run against George W. Bush for the next eleven months, we should not stop them — actually we should be encouraging this!

Capitulating and acquiescing to the demands of a President regardless of party, then, is something these Dems are used to, and something the American people are getting fed up with:  I’ll take your $700 billion TARP complaint (which some are already paying back) and raise you $787 billion non-stimulus stimulus, plus the various supplementals, plus a potential trillion dollar health care debacle and a debilitating cap-and-trade system which will hurt everyone but those on Wall Street who trade carbon-credits, not to mention a 10% unemployment rate.  How do you like them apples?  This could be a really fun year!
