Stimulus Price Tag $75 Billion Higher Than Initially Thought

The Stimulus Porkulus Bill that passed in early 2009 was projected to cost about $787 billion.  The CBO today revised that figure upwards by $75 billion, bringing the total projected cost for the stimulus to about $862 billion.  This is due to the fact that the projections put forth by Obama and the CBO for the economy have so far fallen short of expectations, thus placing the cost higher.  Who knows how many revisions will occur before this monstrosity is done and paid for?  It goes to show that no government program ever comes in at its projected cost – it is typically far more expensive.  We should remember this the next time the government tries to say that some bill “only” cost x dollars.
