Oil Spill: It’s Not Katrina, It’s 9/11!

Here’s the latest gem from our increasingly overwhelmed President:

“In the same way that our view of our vulnerabilities and our foreign policy was shaped profoundly by 9/11, I think this disaster is going to shape how we think about the environment and energy for many years to come.”

Really?  So, this isn’t comparable to a government-botched Katrina-like disaster, it’s more like 9/11 in how the administration can use this crisis.

I’d be pretty pissed if I lost someone on 9/11 and my President just compared an oil rig accident to the social, economic, and political impact of something similar to a terrorist attack which caused the deaths of nearly 3000 Americans.  It was a really dumb thing to say and further illustrates how bonkers he’s becoming.
