Obama Declares Independence from the Creator

Perhaps the most important phrase in American history comes from the Declaration of Independence:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Nothing can sound more American than uttering those words and living true to their meaning.

However, our president decided that the whole “Creator” part of that line needed to be left out of a speech to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute last Wednesday.  Fast forward to about 45-50 second mark for the awkwardness:
