State of the Union Not Playing Well With America

First, let me say that snap polls are somewhat useless.  They are un-scientific and do not have good enough samples to accurately portray anything.  Second, they are usually put out only by unreliable polling outfits (SeeBS and CNN, for example).  What is more important and meaningful will be polls out later this week from reputable firms (Rasmussen, IBD/TIPP), to measure the bounce, and then again next week to see if the bounce is sustained.

What is always interesting, though, is Frank Luntz focus group.  Luntz is a GOP consultant, but he has a knack for getting the pulse of the public.  Typically, his focus groups find what I miss in a speech, or better reflect how the public in general reacted as opposed to my own opinions as a Conservative political junkie.  Last night, Luntz’s focus group pans the speech as flat.

Lunt’s focus group confirms my own reaction to the speech.  A speech full of platitudes with no substance, delivered without any fire or heart.
