Mike Pence to Announce His Next Move. UPDATE: Pence Not Running for President

The gossip website Politico is reporting that Mike Pence will announce his decision on whether he will for President sometime tonight.  According to Ace, the decision will come at 7:00 p.m.

I hope he runs for President.  The country needs a conservative with gravitas who can unite the GOP and successfully take on Obama.  That said, I think he’s running for Governor of Indiana.

UPDATE: Mike Pence is not running for President in 2012.  Damn.  On the bright side, Sarah Palin’s already good chances of winning my vote just increased even further.

I’m bummed. Pence was my Palin-alternative. Not that I don’t like Palin. I sometimes just wonder if she’s too damaged at this point, and Pence had many of her virtues without her shortcomings. Yet I never would have thought a 2/3-term Senator who never had any practical experience and was an avowed Socialist would never win the Presidency either, so there’s no reason Palin can’t overcome her shortcomings.

Historically speaking, it is usually a challenge for a House member who isn’t the Speaker to mount a Presidential Campaign. I am glad he will likely run for Governor of Indiana as he will have that executive experience that will make him a stronger presidential candidate in a few more years.

I am heavily siding toward Palin as she is the most consistent coservative out there. The media may want her negatives to get in the way, but in the end, she will overcome them. As the months go by, I do not believe she will run, so my current alternative to Palin is Haley Barbour.

John Thune is also intriguing…

@Sal – My intelligent liberal friends tell me they fear Thune more than any other candidate. FWIW
