Flea Bites Dog! Government Shutdown Looms

The government may shut down in just a few hours (or not).  I really don’t have much faith in ruling class Republicans to get this minuscule $30-40 billion job done and have a sense that due to their wobbliness, Boehner and crew have emboldened the Dems and MSM to whittle the GOP down.  Case in point, New York Senator Chuck Schumer, who in the spirit of lowering the tone, said this today:

“What we have here is a flea, wagging a tail, wagging a dog.  The flea are the minority of House Republicans who are hard right, the tail is the House Republican caucus, and the dog is the government.  That flea is influencing what the dog does … and it is sad.”

I wonder why he didn’t just say Boehner is too “extreme” — oh yeah, forgot about that.  So the hard right House Republicans (read: Tea Party) are to blame if a shutdown occurs?  It couldn’t be the Dems who never passed a budget last October, and who, rather than give in to what amounts to a rounding error worth of cuts, are holding the negotiations hostage because of Planned Parenthood funding.  Nah!

This whole thing seems like joke given the reality.  It’s kind of like a working class family with $100,000 worth of credit card debt making a big scene in front of the whole neighborhood because their kid bought a tea latte.  How about some perspective here!  At least the Republicans are trying — measly is still something.
