Weiner to Announce Resignation

The New York Times (yeah, I know) is reporting that Anthony Weiner is telling friends that he plans to resign from Congress.  Of course, I’ve been privately telling two of my friends (Sal and Ryan) that I’m ready to write my presidential endorsement post and that hasn’t happened.  I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

We know Weiner’s Democrat allies have been pressuring him to resign to no avail.  Apparently, they feel that Weiner’s scandal is distracting the public’s attention to President Obama’s oh so popular agenda and record, or something.

This is one of those rare occasions where conservatives and elected Democrats are on the same page.  If they insist on the Democrats’ record and agenda being front and center in the minds of the American people, who are we to argue?

When Weiner resigned this afternoon, his speech was too long, self-promoting, personally nostalgic, and delusional. He’s resigning in disgrace, and you’d think he was a maligned victim in all of this. The hecklers, though, made a good addition to the scene.
