Debt Crisis is Getting Old

I’m starting to tune out of these debt plans, non-plans, revised plans, blah blah blah.  So, I’ve adopted a few ground rules for myself moving forward:

  1. No Congress can legally saddle a long-term budget plan onto any future Congress;  ergo, any planned debt reductions past 2012 are total crap.
  2. Whatever the Republicans pass is way better than what the Dems would have created;  so, the House should pass whatever crap sandwich the GOP will produce and just have the Dems deal with it.
  3. Any real cuts are a lie without a Tea Party landslide next year;  therefore, slowing the bleeding is probably all we got, even if it kind of stinks.

That’s about it, except I have one more thing to say to the GOP and the Dems at this point:  See You Next Tuesday.

With the US tax take as a percentage of GDP at tit’s lowest since WW2, I fail to understand the unwillingness to even consider the removal of tax loopholes etc.

Of course all would be a lot easier if both sides would agree to kill all the pork barrel costs hidden in hundreds of bills passed over the recent years.
