St. Louis Has First Major Parade for Iraq War Vets

Organizers in St. Louis decided that since no one had yet scheduled a major parade for returning Iraq War veterans, that they would try to put one on.  With no serious objections they did.  Here’s a video:

While some of the parade’s participants will be redeployed to Afghanistan sooner or later, it speaks volumes about the good people of Missouri, about how our national point of view regarding the troops has changed since Vietnam, and unfortunately about the cowardice of some here at home to even entertain putting on a “premature” celebration (read: Mike Bloomberg).
