A Lucid Moment at Newsweek

By now, you may have heard about Newsweek‘s latest cover article by Niall Ferguson which makes a strong case for replacing Obama.  In short, Ferguson believes that Obama has not kept his promises, has not demonstrated the ability to lead us through these tough times, and really doesn’t have a clue regarding foreign policy.  Thus, Obama doesn’t deserve a second term.

While a demonstrably obvious thesis, one can’t help but wonder why Newsweek would run such an article just a few weeks after calling Romney a wimp with a cover that was actually topped with the phrase “What Triggers Mass Murderers” hovering a few inches above a picture of Mitt Romney.

Is Newsweek on the road to objectivity?  Do they simply want to make money from a demographic which doesn’t usually read Newsweek?  Is there some nefarious motivation we’re missing?  The press loves to knock people down, but also loves a comeback story.

Right now, I’m going with the financially-motivated moment of lucidity explanation, but I expect another major Romney hit-piece before November from this MSM bastion.
