GOP, Boehner Falling Off Their Own Cliff

What a mess!

In a typical Obama Nation move, the Senate had three minutes to read and vote on a 154-page bill which was immediately sent over to the House and eventually voted on last night.  Obama didn’t even wait to sign it before he was on a plane back to Hawaii — he’ll likely auto-pen it sometime later, signaling his own view of the bill.

The GOP has some serious issues to deal with — supporting their first tax rate increase in a generation which actually increases the debt by nearly $4 trillion compared to current law in order to soak those who make over $400,000 a year in a hastily constructed compromise by Mitch McConnell and Vice President Biden which does nothing to deal with our long-term fiscal problems and still raises taxes on 77.1% of us!

And the GOP knew this was coming since August 2011.  Poor job, guys.  Poor job.

Newt would have let Obama and Reid take us over the cliff, forcing them to get serious, showing them that this isn’t a game.  Newt would have shut the government down in July 2011 for the same purpose over the debt ceiling, possibly avoiding all this in the first place.  Heck, Dennis Hastert would have done much the same!  But we don’t have Newt or Hastert.  We have Boehner.

Frankly, House Speaker John Boehner needs to step down as Speaker:  Obama and Reid do not take him seriously, Boehner saves more of his rancor for his own caucus than Obama and the Dems, and Boehner severely aggravated key Republicans yesterday after the snafu over the Sandy funding bill.  Plus, only 84 Republicans voted for the McConnell-Biden crap sandwich, meaning 151 voted against the will of the leadership.

Wounded and inept, he should face a leadership challenge.  He’ll survive it, putting his ego ahead of our nation’s future like the rest of the leadership s.o.b.’s on both sides of the aisle.  There used to be two parties in this country.  It’d be nice to see that again.
