Unemployment Steady at 7.8%

Unemployment remained at 7.8% in December along with the U6 figure, which also stayed put at 14.4%.  I find it interesting that November’s number was initially 7.7%, but got revised up to 7.8%.  Funny how that happened with relative quiet.

Although we added 155,000 jobs last month, we need 250,000 to keep pace with population growth.  Seems like more of the same stagnation.  Historically, our current stagnating mess of an economy is unique.  Some people are calling our job situation “scary” since we’re in uncharted territory:  since WWII, we’ve never seen jobs return so slowly.  It certainly seems like a broken record each month.
