Beck Weighs In on Musburger Controversy

While the BCS National Championship between Notre Dame and Alabama was still competitive (which, if you were watching, wasn’t long unfortunately), ESPN commentator Brent Musburger said this about Katherine Webb, Ms. Alabama and Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron’s girlfriend:

At the time I didn’t think it was weird — Musburger’s an old guy (73) and let’s face it, Webb is beautiful (um, she’s Ms. Alabama) and there was a National Championship game to be played.  She didn’t seem to mind either, saying that Musburger was not “creepy” as some of her friends insinuated, but that she was actually flattered by his compliment!

Nonetheless, ESPN apologized the following day for Musburger’s remark.

Well, this morning on his radio show Glenn Beck had a few things to say about ESPN’s apology, most notably this:

“Has everyone at ESPN been castrated?  Seriously, I think they are all eunuchs that are running ESPN.  It’s like, ‘Oh, you wanna run ESPN? OK, drop your drawers, I’m gonna cut your balls off.’ …  Excuse me.  I’m sorry, but is that not true?  Who are these people?  They have no spine.  I mean who at ESPN is offended by what Brent Musburger said…  I don’t know how you could be offended by this.”

Beck kind of has a point.  This seemed like a preemptive move on ESPN’s part partially because we’re much too hypersensitive and litigious nowadays.  Lay off the old guy, who was just pointing out the obvious.
